Hoping to further discourage tax defaulters HMRC have, for the first time, published a list of U.K. tax cheats on their website. The list also shows the fines each defaulter received; how much they owed in tax; and personal information such as address.

This move to publicly "out" tax cheats comes not long after Margaret Hodge, Public Accounts Committee chair and Labour MP, claimed that a "name and shame" system would "discourage" deliberate tax defaulters.

The first copy of The Defaulters List is available to read online now. HMRC intend to update the list every quarter.
