It is too soon to tell how much the new rulings will cost women drivers, but experts are claiming up to a 40% increase in driving insurance costs for women. Insurers will no longer be able to change premium quotes depending on the sex of a customer. This does not just effect women's car insurance premiums. Women's life insurance costs will increase by anything from 15% to 30%.

Male pensioners could be down by about £10,000 over the lifetime of their policy. Men have traditionally received 4% more than women from their annuities, because women tend to live longer. Now that insurance companies can no longer take into consideration the sex of an insured party in deciding premiums, they will have to rely more heavily on other considerations such as medical conditions, means of employment, etc. For a more detailed analysis of how the new EU ruling may change your car and life insurance policies read here.
