The Direct Selling Campaign is a chance for those selling as Agents for other businesses, eg. door-to-door or parties, to settle any undeclared tax owing with Revenue. Coming clean through this scheme is a chance to bring your tax affairs up to date, while taking advantage of reduced or no penalties. The Campaign is aimed at anyone selling outside of a retail shop. This includes simply selling to friends and family, or door-to-door.

Sellers usually work on a commision basis, and this commision is liable for tax.

If you have neglected to inform HMRC of previous income from commissions on sales of this manner, then you have until the 28th of February to join the scheme. HMRC are offering preferable settlement rates for those who partake on time. For those who don't come forward voluntarily before the 28th, money owed in taxes will be liable for penalties and fines at the normal rate.

HMRC have detailed information how to take part in the Direct Selling Campaign and how to work out how much you owe in taxes.
